Our love story is kind of ordinary in its extraordinary way. A guy meets a girl, they set up a hangout, unsure if it’s a casual meetup or the start of something more. But as fate would have it, sparks fly, and suddenly, it’s unmistakably a date. They fall deeply in love, move in together, build a life, have two perfect kids, travel all over, and decide, almost a decade later, it’s time for that long-awaited wedding.
When we met in 2015, both of us were 29 (1986 was a very good year – thanks Rhonda & Deb!), the youngest in our families, and each with two older brothers of the same age. It felt like some sort of cosmic wink, you know? That initial connection was instant, genuine, and thrilling, like finding a missing piece of ourselves.
In our nine years together, we’ve faced our share of highs and lows. We’ve held onto each other through it all. Jacob, the firebrand with endless dreams, and Briar, the bedrock of unwavering strength. We fit together like pieces of a puzzle and can’t imagine life without each other. From the start, we knew we’d found our forever person, and that feeling has only grown stronger with time.

WHAT I DO
Briar is a Senior Account Director for Ntara, an digital agency that implements PIM, DAM, and ecommerce systems for Fortune 500 companies and healthcare institutions. Briar’s most important job is mom to two beautiful children.
FAVORITE THINGS
Briar enjoys gardening and has homesteading dreams. If she could, she’d have a field of wildflowers to call her own, a flock of free range chickens, an enviable garden with fruit trees aplenty, and barefoot kids who have a closeness to nature. She loves to travel and explore new cultures with her family. Briar loves poetry and making pottery, can belch louder than a freight train, and has a wicked sense of humor.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT JACOB
I love Jacob’s kind and loving smile. I love Jacob’s generosity with his friends and family, even strangers. He gave a car to someone who needed one, paid off a loan for someone without hesitation, and often offers his help to friends in need. I knew he was the one within the first 3 months of dating when he double-backed while on a bike ride to offer some kids selling lemonade a few bucks and advice: never stop pushing, never quit on your dreams. Jacob achieves his goals unlike anyone I’ve ever known. His passion for his pursuits lights up my heart. He loves me like I’ve never been loved. He makes me feel safe and secure. He is the best dad to our kids, attentive, patient, and unbelievably sweet. Jacob is the dad I always wished I had growing up, and I am so blessed he is my partner in parenting and life.

WHAT I DO
Jacob is a serial entrepreneur and has been creating businesses since childhood. No matter his pursuits, Jacob always brings the energy and vision to make any idea come to life. Jacob is also father to two beautiful children with Briar.
FAVORITE THINGS
Jacob loves business and always has. As a kid, Jacob was the face of his and his older brothers’ lawn care business and in charge of knocking on doors to tout their services. Not much has changed. Building businesses is a part of Jacob’s DNA. He couldn’t help making a business of his Japanese maple collection, which is now well over 800 plants in two hoop houses in his yard. Jacob loves traveling, golfing, staying active, and always having a tribe of friends and family around him.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BRIAR
I love Briar’s ability to make anything beautiful. She throws the best parties for our kids and family with such attention to detail and thoughtfulness. She knows how to give gifts better than anyone, and that’s because she pays attention and thinks about people. She is a selfless giver and provides so much love to our family every day. You should see the breakfast plates she makes for the kids. She is also just a boss at work. She crushes her sales goals and makes it look easy, all the while being an amazing mom to our kids. She is our family’s glue, and without Briar, we’d truly be lost. She is beautiful and strong and has a way with words that I admire. I love this woman!

Briar and Jacob met at The Smoky Park Supper Club in 2015 and got engaged in 2023 at the top of Arthur’s Seat overlooking Edinburgh.
Their Travel
They have traveled to Puerto Rico, Canada, Costa Rica, Norway, Scotland, and throughout the USA. Where should they go on their honeymoon?
Their Children
Briar and Jacob expanded their family with the birth of their baby girl. August was born in 2019 and Bowie in 2022. The sweetest of siblings!
